Outlook problem

I've noticed over the past couple of days that Outlook seems to be popping up in its window whenever I'm doing other things, like surfing, typing or playing games.

I hardly ever even use Outlook, cos I prefer the flexibility of web based email, so it's getting REEAALLY annoying when I'm half way thru doing something else.


Is this a known problem?? cos I'm guessing (hoping) it's just something to do with some settings within Outlook??

are you sure its completely closed when you close it?

Sometimes even though you exit the GUI outlook will leave 'outlook.exe' running, and another exe if you're running a MAPI client (doubt it if its from home).

Outlook can be a POS sometimes *shrug*
Make sure the exe is killed.

Or are you talking about outlook express?

I'm not 100% sure if its "express" or not - cos I never normally use it....
I'll check if an .exe is running tonight, and update you from home if possible

Does it pop up when a new email has arrived? Maybe you can specify it to not notify you of new email. Also go to the menu in outlook and click exit and that should kill it as clicking on the X isn't something that means all programs should close, well if they are specially written to hide in the taskicons or taskbar.

Also just go into the task manager, hit the bar at the top 'image name', now the list will be sorted alphabetically.
Now find it and kill the process, if not make sure it's not in the task icons in the corner.
Also check for any settings for closing it.

It usually pops up when I hit the left shift key, or the delete key, but stangely doesn't happen every time.

I deleted all incoming and outgoing email, and it still happens.... but only occasionally

Open ie explorer>tools>internet options>programs> e mail set it to whatever you use>ok.......done

I'll give your suggestion a try whitebeard. I've just changed the explorer settings, so we'll see if it works the way I want it to the next time I log off...
