Hi

I have a Gigbyte KA8NKP motherboard running XP.

Does anyone know how I find out which speed the AGP bus is running at?

Cheers

From the mobo manuf website, see the model details. It should say which speed the agp slot is rated at, 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x.

The AGP slot is rated as 8x, but I want to find out what speed it is actually running at.

I am about to install a Radeon 8600XT, and apparently this card sometimes reverts the AGP bus to run at 1x.

Cheers

i think you'd have to go into the BIOS to set AGP speeds, I may be wrong but just check the BIOS out and see if you can set the AGP speed there, most mobo default to 4x AGP speed so your mobo is probalby running the AGp slot at that speed. There isn't really a performance gain running AGP at 8x to 4x.

Yeah that isn't coming up at gigabyte.
Have you tried looking through the drivers in the property display under the tab settings in the advanced options.
I dont have access to the radeon drivers right now, so I forget the tab name, but there is one that has details about your card and does say which AGP setting it is being used at.

I won't have a chance to install the card until the weekend. I'll have a look at the driver settings then.

Does this tab allow you to change the AGP speed, or just view it?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
