Very odd happenings

Today when I logged onto my FTP program I noticed that some of my system files were in my C:\ folder =\ I am almost certain that they were never there before.

I am using WINDOWS XP HOME edition.. Which seems to give me more trouble than ANY operating system in the known universe..

The files that showed up are as follows:

AUTOEXE
BOOT.BAK
IO
ntldr
boot.ini
CONFIG
MSDOS
and pagefile.sys

Also had NTLOADER.COM which I deleted and probably shouldn't have

I was wondering if these could be the real system files or some kind of virus.. I'm pretty sure they are real since I tried deleting them but when I try to edit boot.ini from my computer it says it isn't found when I delete the boot.ini in my C folder and pagefile.sys is being used.

None of the files show up in windows explorer folders but they do show up in my FTP program.. Even when I have 'view hidden files' checked.

So should I put these in a folder that's more safe or delete them? I don't know what to do or why they got there.. Shouldn't they be in a system folder or something? =\

And will it kill me to not have the NTLOADER.COM file?

I can't find anything on this
Should I just drop them all into my Windows folder? I really hate having them in C for some reason.

STOP! Those are system files. They're quite necessary and are quite normal. Did you happen to go into Folder Options, View tab and make a few changes? Or, use a piece of software that made your system files show up?

Anybody that has NT/2K/XP has those files, you're no different and have nothing to worry about.

Well don't I feel smart.

I deleted the NTLOADER.COM file. when I first saw it. =[
I mean common.. Who would name a system file NTLOADER.COM? I went to ntloader.com and it just gave me a bunch of ads.. Um.. Is there an easy way to get that one back?
