I just recently Purchased the Lindows OS
I am a real noob when it comes to Linux
I have only ran the free Live bootable CD
they sent me with the OS cd.((Looks Cool))
I'm sorta tired of paying $100 for every OS I load.
Let me make this my first Question in this forum
How much will the book
Kiss The Blue Screen Of Death Goodbye
help me understand Lindows?

Thanks for any consideration.

oh thats a good book and all but there wansnt a part in there for Lindows..... it thouroughly went over popular Linux distros (Red Hat, SuSe, and Mandrake) but as i remember there were no specifics on lindows. I cant tell u if it will help you or not because i havent tried lindows myself.

I also downloaded the free offer of Lindows and just installed it yesterday, it has a very good introduction tutorial and as far as I can see it's very intuitive, I haven't done much with it yet but it found all of the hardware , network printer, internet, up and running also I put a music CD in and it started playing, it has a lot of bells and whistles I haven't checked out yet, so far so good.

How well does Lindows deal with things like creating a non-root user?

Do all the doodads like autoplay of music cd's and stuff still work?

What's it based on? Will I have trouble compiling/installing software that's typically packaged for RedHat/Mandrake/SuSE?
