Laptop NO cd-rom needs win95 installed on it..HOW?

Hi ppl,

How do i go about getting windows 95 of the cd and onto the hard drive of a old laptop, with only the floppy drive to use?

Would be nice if someone had win95 floppy images that they could post or give me a clue of how to get the cabs form the win95 folder onto floppys, as a lot are 1.6mb!

Nullmodem cable!ParallelCable! Could i use one of those? What software would i need?

Please start pointing me to the right places...cant find any were myself, thought ms might offer a download, as key/book is what makes it legal, and boss just got ten of them in.

Thanks for reading.

Peace.

This will probably work but IMO it is going to be a major PITA.

I actually transfered a CD image, about 650mb thru a phone line from my desktop to my laptop. It took about two days, but I didnt have to be there the whole time. I suppose you could copy the files off the cd and rar them into a big file, then connect thru Hyperterminal and zmodem that sucker onto the lap top. That is if theres any kind of operating system installed.

Be warned: the process is a bit adventorus.

Thanks so far.

Hi Bill, as for splitting the files....as am going to be working in DOS what commands would I have to use? Thats it splitter works in DOS!

As for buying it on floppy's, don't think the boss wants to do that just for one customer.... aspecialy as he has all them new 95 cd`s, i will push him to e-bay and let him look at prices..

Thanks so far.

After thinking this over I doubt that my suggestion will work in DOS.

However, I have come up with a different approach that will work for you.

You could pull the laptop HDD and slave it to a working system with a CD drive with a converter and copy everything over the the laptop HDD.

Found this googling:

NOTEBOOK/LAPTOP HARD DRIVE CONVERTER 44-40 PIN IDE BRACKET KIT

Just depends on if you want to take the laptop apart or not.
