motherboard problems

I have an Asus A7V333 that's being acting weird ever since my brother fried a 1900+ on it. ( It's not my fault)

So I put a 1.3ghz Duron in it to get it going and the voice kept repeating "System failed CPU test." We didn't think the motherboard was fried, but we gave up on it and let it sit in it's box for about 6 months. My brother decided to try again, but now it's saying "System failed memory test."

We've checked everything on it, cleared the cmos again and again, and it still says the same thing. Because the error messages keep changing we still don't know if it's dead or not.

Does anyone know how to get it working, if it's not dead?

we've tried pc2700 and pc2100 ram on it, and in different slots. It still gives the same message.
