Tech stupid question

Eh..... stupid question but just thought id ask. Do any of you now the windows program that allows you to chat with people on your network. (I now u have to type it in in the"Run" box but i dont remember what it is.

"Net send" Sends messages to other users, computers, or messaging names on the network.

Syntax
net send {name | * | /domain[:name] | /users} message


I think this is what you are looking for.

I think you are talking about the net command. You can do net send to send a message to a specific machine or a group of machines. More info here http://www.computerhope.com/nethlp.htm , hope this helps

Thanks, cept for some reason it does not seem to work I type in net send/users (message goes here) and nothin happens.

try net view mshome

where "mshome" is the name of the workgroup

(for Win98se comps its net view workgroup)


that lists the other computers on your network


Is it xp?? Are the firewalls off?

there both XP and the firewall on this computer is off and the other computer does not have a firewall.
