Systems xp will not boot up

I want to cry now, I've been up all night, trying to sort this pc out.

Now my other pc is DEAD!!!

I upgraded it to xp home last week and everything was fine, then it started freezing etc....
I reinstalled xp.
I kept getting errors etc. now it won't boot up at all its just stuck there with the black windows page with the Windows x[p home edition logo.

Try booting in Safe Mode. Hit the F8 key, between the Bios splash screen, and the windows xp splash screen.

You may have some adware or something running in the background, using all the CPU resources.

I tried to do what you suggested......and this happened..

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Beginning dupm of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

What now?

Janny, you have a private message with a link to a good site.

You need to try a repair install, or If you have no data worth saving, Use the install CD to format the hard drive, and start over.

It's 5AM here, I gtg to sleep.

Lot's of good help here, good luck!

ok sorted that problem....system restore had been turned off for some reason. So I went into safe mode and ran adaware, it found 9 registry keys.
Then I started up and went to last known configuration, it took quite a long time but it got there eventually. Everything seems fine now other than its a little slow booting up.
