I have made sure that I have the correct power adapter. Checked the volts and amps are correct. When I plug the laptop in the light on the ((power supply)) goes on but thats it. No lights on the laptop. Also the laptop is missing the harddrive and cdrom drive but this shouldnt matter should it? I would think that it would still turn on. If I hit the power button nothing happens at all fan does not spin either. Could this maybe be a blown fuse? Is it fixable??
Get a cheap digital multi meter and check the voltage at the hdd plug and at the switch. You can use it to check a fuse, if you have voltage on only one side of a fuse it is bad.
Why was hdd and cd pulled? Bad mobo maby.
Thanks for the response. I didnt know about double posting....
Yeah I checked the mobo. It looks like the plug adapter was not soldiered to the board correcty. I kinda ripped the trace on the board while removing it also "doh". I am going to try to resoldier it tommorrow. Any ideas on how to make the adapter more sturdy on the board? "So when you plug in the laptop it will take some pressure of the piece"
