FTP Tracking

Does anyone know if there is a way to track a download from an FTP site. The problem I am having is that I want to make sure the person that downloaded something had success in downloading the entire file. Is there anyway to track this other then counting bytes?

There should be a note in the log saying sending was complete, failed, or aborted by the user.

Most ftpservers have logs, which log individual files downloaded. If the file is succesfully downloaded, a entry in the log will be created.

Some have onscreen monitoring to see what's going on rt.
