upgrade cpu in toshiba satellite 2805-s503

I have the above laptop and am wondering if anyone knows how to find out what cpu chip I have and if there's a compatible chip available for an upgrade. The cpu I have is p3 900mhz. I remember seeing somewhere that there's a p3 1000mhz (1ghz) available for this laptop. How do I find out information on laptop cpu's?

As always thanks a bunch.

If I'm not mistaken, Toshiba soldered the processors to the MOBO on those models. Making an upgrade difficult at best.

Nope. I've actually taken my laptop completely apart and re-assembled it. I've actually held my laptop's cpu in my hand. They are removable.

Just last week I replaced my fan because it was extrememly noisey. While I was at it I removed everything else to see how it was done. And I do mean everything.

So I do know that it's not soldered on. I'm hoping that there are upgradable versions of the cpu that are compatible with my laptop so I can try my hand at an upgrade if the price is not too crazy.

Thanks anyway for responding though.

Cool, the reason I thought that was because I had an 1805-s203 with a celeron that was soldered.
You didn't happen to get any info on the MOBO while you were in there?

I sure didnt but I wish I did. Getting in and down to the mobo level is so easy once you know how that I'll do it again one day and I'll make sure to get mobo info next time.

Thanks
