help setting up network Domain & VPN

Hi. I would like to begin to setup a small office network with about 6 computers and three printers. I have 4 desktop sytstems with windows 2000 pro and 1 fileserver with windows 2000 server. I also have 1 laptop that has windows xp Home and I would like to get these setup on a domain.

I know that windows xp home cannot be setup on a domain so I was wondering what the best way to set it up would be? I would like to avoid conflicts.

I would like the small office network to be VPN enabled and the main computer that would connect to the office network via VPN would be the WinXP Home Laptop.

As I understand it, Windows 2000 server has a built in VPN server. So that means that I wouldn't need a VPN Router correct? Also what would be the difference of using a VPN ROuter and using windows 2000 server to establish the VPN?

I'm fairly new to VPN and was wondering if anyone had any info that could help me along the way...
thanks a lot!

I would upgrade WinXP Home to XP Pro, then join it to the Domain.

Alternately, if the laptop was only connecting remotely, leave it "as is" and use a Terminal Server session on the W2K Server (in place of VPN).

winproxy will work for the e-mail filter and bndled with pccillin, it will work for that portion of your config.

still do not understand how to get this setup with or without a router. Do I need to forward ports etc...? what if I setup the w2k server in the DMZ zone of the router? that should take care of any port forwarding issues right?

With a router, you generally need to forward the appropriate ports and/or put it in the DMZ (depending on the router).
