Radeon 9800 Pro and Cats 4.2 Question

I just got a new Radeon 9800 pro and have installed the Cat 4.2 version. I have now just noticed that on the ATI website it says these drivers require SP4 for Windows 2000, I am only running SP2 as I have tried SP4 before and it turns my PC to crap.

Am I going to have to install SP4 becuase ATI says it is required or can I get away without it.

What are other people using?

I believe they require SP4 because of the Windows Installer version included within.

If you find the standalone 2.0 Windows Installer, you may be able to avoid SP4. Tough I wonder what's wrong with your PC if SP4 doesn't work...

I already installed the drivers yesterday. SP4 does work it, last time I tried it it degraded my PC performance over a period of about 2 weeks
