Kids Overclocking a 1.0 GHz Celeron...HELP!

Ok, i got a 1.0 GHz Intel Celeron and an AOpen AX34 Pro II mobo... and no clue how to overclock. I want to oc both the cpu and fsb, but idk if it is a jumper on my mobo or a software thing, like a videocard. Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

well i found a clock somewhere in my BIOS settings but i can't determine what it controls...i have an award BIOS...i tried playing with some 'overclocking' jumpers that were on my mobo near the IDE connectors, but i couldnt run it faster! IS there a utility i can run from windows to OC a processor i.e. powerstrip for a videocard??? Please help...

well the thing to do first is find a motherboard manual for that board.

The basic way of overclocking is just to raise the "fsb"..maybe in the bios it calls it "clock speed" or similar.

With the celeron the basic clock speed is 100mhz...so to overclock it you would try to take it to 105 and higher etc

of course when you speed THAT up it speeds up other stuff like the video card etc...so at some point you will speed it up too much and it wont boot..so then youll have to 'reset the bios" and start again.

Hopefully you can change the fsb with the bios...otherwise you have to do it with jumpers which is a bit more tedious.

Some reviews..they mention overclocking and give a few details.

http://www.targetpc.com/hardware/mot...n_ax34_pro_ii/

http://www.zen26266.zen.co.uk/AX34Pro2-page1.htm

----

as a sidenote...if you are looking for an upgrade later, this may interest you.

You can get an adapter that will allow you to run 'tualatin' celerons and P3's on that board. Tualatins are th eones with 256cache and smaller die etc....usually a celeron tualatin is better than an older P3.

here is the adapter

http://www.strattoncomputer.com/370gusoc370a.html
and I think this is the same one, lol..cheaper... http://66.216.68.88/ scroll down..its called a "FC-PGA2 Tualatin Converter for FC-PGA Motherboards " listed under "motherboards"

and here is the page showing the compatible motherboards

http://www.upgradeware.com/english/p...patibility.htm

Anyway, a tualatin celeron, like a 1.2 ghz is only like 40$..it'll DESTROY a regular 1g celly because of the doubled cache amount.
