How to start a game hosting company?

I am very interested in starting a game hosting company of my own. But after looking at T1 prices, server prices, etc... I kepting wondering how people, who charge about $80 a month for a server, can afford to keep a $500 T1 line?

So I come to my fellow geeks of the world

How do these people do it? How do they make a profit? Anything you know about how they set up the bussiness, how they run the servers, etc... would be really appreciated. If it isn't really all that hard to start a bussiness, my mom is thinking about lending me about $10,000 to get me started.

Thanks,
-Biz

^bump

just any info on how one would go about setting up a network for this?

Like how many servers do you think one T1 line can handle without lag?

Certainly depends on the game(s) and related number of players. Games like UT and America's Army have game config settings that relate to bandwidth usages. So these types of settings are also important to know.

Try this guy... http://www.allfrag.com ...you could ask him about his overall bandwidth, current number of customers, etc...
