Im interested in creating my own shamrock or clover. any tutorials or tips you guys can give me to make the leafs. I tried to use the freeform pen but it makes the curves have some edges to it
You might have to draw in a few details but a shamrock is included (its in the shapes menu). Here you go (unless you really want to do it a more difficult way)
