OK, when I start my computer I get a window telling me to insert my Windows 98 disc to complete intallation. If I do this I get an error message telling me the CD may be dirty, blah, blah.....However, if I push F10 Windows opens with no problems. So, what I am asking is what can I do to avoid seeing this message every time I reboot or start Windows? Anybody have an idea?

You have some sort of installation that didn't get cleared out properly. Try this:
Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
In the Named box, type wininit.ini. In the Look in box, click Local hard drives, and then click Find Now. Right-click the Wininit.ini file, click Rename, type wininit.xxx, and then click OK. NOTE: The file should be located in the Windows folder. Close the Find Files window.

That should fix it.

Well, that file was not to be found. The closest thing to it was one named wininit which is an application file and wininit.bak. Both of these files were in the Windows folder.

In order to see the ".ini" part, you need to go into Folder Options and click on the View tab. Look for a "Hide extensions of know file types" or something to that affect and uncheck it. Also, uncheck the box that says "Hide hidden/system files".

When you're prompted, does it show you a path where to look for the files for.

you could probably just rename the wininit.bak file to maybe "wininit.old"

then see what happens
