hmmm... need help w/ windows mplayer 2

Hey all... I like using mplayer2 to watch avi's, mpgs, etc. on my computer.... however, I'm having a really hard time getting it to be my default player.

I have opened mplayer2 and chosen to associate all movie files with it, but any time I double clikc on a movie file, I'm prompted by windows to choose which program I would like to use to open the file...!?!??

can anyone help me out here?

thanks
-Z

If "open with" doesnt show up when u right click....then click the file to highlight it..then hold down "shift" when u right click...that should make "open with" show up

On some media players isnt there a setting that says for it to reassociate the files if another player tries to "steal" them etc....so maybe see what player is opening them and see if it has such a setting.

ok... the "open with" is there... the point is that even when I choose "always open with this program"... it doesn't seem to change anything....

prophet... no player is opening them... it is as if the files are unassociated..

FIX FOUND!

it was for all file types... so here's the solution. I had to open wmplayer9 and go to the options>filetypes tab. I had to uncheck every file type that is associated with that media player. then i had to open mplayer2 and reassociate all file types with that media player.

apparently there is some sort of glitch here... who knows... but it seems to have worked well for me.. so I'll take that...

although.. ... now that i think about it. I thought it was possible to get wmplayer9 to look and feel like wmplayer2. I suppose that this would be a good thing to look into anyway since apparently wmp9 is a lot better...

thanks all
