Systems Buzzing Mobo?

AMD 2500+ (Stock HSF)
512MB Kinston HyperX Dual Channel PC3200
400Watt PS
30GB Maxtor HDD
25GB Western Digital HDD
Geforce4 MX420 (I know it's ancient )
Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 Mobo (Nforce2 Chipset)
ThermalTake Xaser3 Skull Series Tower

Everything installed CORRECTLY but Mobo makes this annoying buzzing sound all the time. Boots into Windows (XP) without any problems but it just keeps buzzing. I can't determine what it is. And furthermore it's detecting my 2500+ as a 1100! Please help me out here, I've posted here before with good results. I know you guys won't let me down.

1100 = 100fsb , Go into your bios and set the Fsb and Multliplier to the correct settings for a 2500

buzzing sound ... umm sounds bad but i got no clue on that

What kind of buzzing? Like interference from speakers, maybe?

Or maybe it's vibrations. If that's the case, make sure the mobo is securely screwed on the chassis.

Kronik, I tried upping my FSB but I couldn't from the BIOS it was maxed at 200Mhz. So I had to change my Jumper settings, did that and duriing boot it detected a 3200+ . Consequently it never got to windows . It just freezes up on me when I use th e 400Mhz FSB.....Now I have yet ANOTHER issue with this Mobo, I'm starting not to like Gigabyte

Um, that's because a 2500+ uses a 166mhz fsb, and a 3200+ uses a 400mhz fsb. You're overclocking = why it's not making it to windows (certainly not gigabyte's fault.

As for buzzing... have you tried unplugging the chassis speaker to see if it's coming from there?

Sam

Samwichse, Well I did a pretty good amount of research before purchasing the 2500+ and did so only because I read of it's great overclocking potential. Many posts on various Forums (This one included) Sum up into a 2500+ being TOTALLY able to run as a 3200+ (Assuming the 2500+ is a "Barton") Which I've discovered all 2500+s are. Reports of stability using a 400Mhz FSB on a Barton are WIDE SPREAD, so I fiigured I would have no problems. And don't see why I do (Core Voltage maybe?)

As for the buzzing I jsut yanked the Chassis speaker connection from the Mobo. But I feel bad now, and it bothers me that I can't hear my Post power beeps . And Sam if possible can you give me some OC pointers?

Hey funny you mention this - I run an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, a 2500+ as a 3200+, and an OC'd Ti 4200, and when I fire up a game it makes this slight bzzzing sound, like when you lightly touch a peice of paper to a small-diameter high-rotation fan. I don't have any problems with my sys, everything works fine and it never crashes, but it's gigglelicious that you have a similar problem.

I'm sure no one said that 2500+ Bartons are TOTALLY overclockable to 3200+ specs. If they said that all Bartons could reach that speed, they were either lying or did now know what they were talking about. Each CPU is different; just because most 2500+s can reach 3200+ does not mean that all of them will.
