Dual color LEDs?

I went to change all my drive LEDs I ran into a problem when I opened my cd burner(remeber that). First problem was it was 5mm and I have right now is 3mm. Next Its a dual color led, reading green, writing red, I didnt even think about it until I seen it and remember it wasnt a normal drive.

So to keep the theme of my case, I need to rig a blue one to stay blue when writing, Meaning I need another leg (dual LEDS have 3 legs) or to find a blue/white 5mm LED, Anyone know where to get one?

I've never seen a blue/white dual, and based on knowing how white LEDs work (they are blue LEDs with a special phosphor inside the packag to convert to white light) I can predict they won't exist.

How about blue/red (also quite unusual, I never saw them before until I ran into them here)?

I actually bought a dozen of these, and they are nice. Not ridiculously bright, but definitely noticeable.

I was afraid of that.

Blue/Red sounds pretty good since its going to be a cd burner.

I havent got it yet but Im guessing my dvd-+rw is going be the same way?

You also gotta factor in, the common pin can be either the anode or the cathode, there's not really a standard. It may pay to do a little detective work on that before ordering or dissasembling anything. The ones I linked are common cathode.

I've never worked with 3 pin LEDs before, but on normal LEDs, the short pin is always the negative side/cathode.
