STOP Error: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

I recently installed Cubase SX 1.0 and I had trouble getting it started, so, I rebooted and I was able to start it up. Then it did a check on my sound card which failed twice then completed, and I was in the program. I opened one of my MIDI's and played, but no sound, so I thought to restart. As soon as I restarted I got a stop error saying: UNMOUTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, there is no way for me to get past this, even booting in safe mode, and I don't know what to do. I have too many things of value on that hard-drive to go about reinstalling windows, any help would be greatly appreciated.

System Specs:
CD/CDRW - Lite-On 52x24x52 (i believe)
DVD- Not sure, Samsung I believe
Mobo - Asus A7N8X Deluxe BIOS ver. 1006
HD - Western Digital 120gb 7200 RPM
Operating System - Win. XP Pro
CPU - AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton"
Vid. Card -ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

OK.. quick solution.. usually works for this error..

(1) Grab your XP CD, and boot to it (you may have to adjust BIOS boot order)
(2) When prompted, press 'R' to load the Recovery Console, where you will be given the option to 'log into' the operating system on your hard drive
(3) Run the following command (which will take a while): chkdsk /p

This will check your hard drive for errors and attempt to correct (and recover) it.

- OR try this in the Recovery Console -
(3) Run the command fixboot which will attempt to fix the boot sector on your drive

Furthermore, Microsoft's Article 297185 reminds you to use 80-wire cables to connect your hard drive to your motherboard (instead of the 40-wire cables)

Let us know if that works!
