Google Toolbar = spyware?

Just wondered because I having google searches right up there would be cool, and it ALSO stops popups.

I bet that it uses some CPU though, but I really want to know if the toolbar is psyware, because almost all toolbars have it.

I don't think so. I've been using it for IE for a while, and now that I switched over to Mozilla Firefox, I use it on that, too. I haven't noticed any slowdowns or any extra spam.

Ad-aware and Norton haven't picked up anything bad about it, either.

If you turn on the advanced features of the toolbar then it turns into spyware. It phones home with every page you surf.

Yeah, I've had google toolbar for a very long time now...long enough to have over 1500 pop-ups blocked...now that's a lot of "close" window clicks if you ask me .

Forgot about the advanced features - Yes, I turn those off, too. They're not available with the Mozilla Firefox installation.

With Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox I have never used any additional pop-up blocking apps and I get zip pop-ups.

The toolbar is still nice to have, nonetheless.
