8x agp problem on 9700 pro

i have a soyo kt400 mobo which has an 8x agp pro slot and i have had my 9700 pro on it running at 8x before and last night i finally got win xp on my comp and today i downloaded the latest ati drivers and when i try to set the smartgart at 8x agp and restart it wont take effect, have no idea what could be wrong , please help

I have the same problem and can't figure it out as well. Cept i have a 9800pro.

Go into the bios and look around, not sure what bios that has, but look around for AGP settings and if you find one, make sure it is enabled to have AGP 3.0 or AGP 8X.
Then continue doing that through the smart gart settings.
