Best AV Program...

I want to know your opinions on what you think is the best AV program out. It can be free or pay, but it has to be the best in your opinion. Let me know why you think it's the best also.

IMO i think the best is AVG. i used norton for a while and it seemed to do the same job as AVG, which seemed to do the same job as McAfee as far as virus detection is concerned. the only difference is in how configurable they are and how obtrusive they are. AVG is probably the least configurable, but i've found it to have everything that is needed, and it is very unobtrusive, unlike norton.

i'm sure you'll get a lot of posts for AVG. after all, it's free and it works....i use it.

in the past, when asked about commercial AVs, i used to recommend other products but then i was struck with the thought, "Hey, if i trust the free version of AVG, why wouldn't i trust their stronger, 'industrial strength' version? and i couldn't come up with a argument against so it...so i would say that i recommend AVG, either free or commercial.

i don't like the norton av...you couldn't pay me to use it.

never used panda...and judging by the mixed reviews by surveys at download.com, i'd steer well clear. the folks who rate stuff there aren't exactly the most knowledgeable of people and if even they have complaints w/Panda, i shudder at how good it could possibly be.

pc-cillin is pretty good but if you're going to plunk down $$$ for commercial, try either AVG or Kaspersky av.

I've used AVG before and was looking for something corporate. I've used InoculateIT 6.0 but was not satisfied with it (ate a lot of resources.) I was kind of looking for something that could be used in conjuction with a firewall and accuractely detect virus's with the easy option of quarantining and deleting them. I've head Panda, PC-cillin, and F-Prot were all outstanding AV programs. Judging by what I've read, Panda isn't that good. I think I'll test out PC-cilin. Let me know if you think something is better.
