USB woes...
Perhaps this is a well-known problem, I dunno. I've done some web searching, and found suggestions) but nothing has worked so far.
I bought a Fujifilm FinePix USB camera, (my first & only USB device) and cannot get my USB root hub working. (I don't have an accessory-type hub, just the two USB ports on the Mobo.)
Hardware Manager says "Due to hub transfer request failures, a hub has been disabled." This appears twice, evidently on #1 & #2, as I have not enabled 3 & 4 in the BIOS.
#1 & #2 are enabled, and I also tried "Assign IRQ to USB", "Enable USB keyboard" and "Enable USB mouse" in various combinations too. Some combinations cause the PC to hang at boot time.
I tried the "USB fix" patch from Epox, with no results.
Any ideas, folks?

Just an update. It turns out that the PC will boot. I just wasn't patient enough. Total boot time is in excess of 8.5 minutes. I just thought it was hung.
Running Boolog Analyser shows the major delays to all revolve around the AC97 codec. I never was happy with the audio performance on this machine, but I'm not sure why this issue has blown to such proportions.

The only time I have seen that USB error is when the wires were plugged in incorrectly. Are you using a USB pigtail connected to an onboard header? If so, double check the pinout and make sure they are wired correctly |

Nope. It's factory stock, soldered right on the Mobo.
Tried both sockets too.
I haven't tried installing the extra pig-tailed sockets that came with the board though. I might do that.

Sounds like the drivers are corrupted, you could try and uninstall the AC97 and then the USB in the device manager and let Windohs detect and re-install drivers.

BTW: I read something about: "the USB ports don't like sharing an IRQ..."
Has anyone found this to be the case?
Mine is sharing IRQ with my SCSI card, but not with my audio, and yet the Bootlog says the delays are at enumeration of the AC97.
ALSO: As soon as I disable "assign IRQ to USB" in my BIOS, the machine boots up in under one minute; but I don't have USB available then, of course.

Just checking my IRQ's on a XP box- IRQ 19 and 23 are being used for USB and are not shared.
Win2000 w/SCSI IRQ 19 is used for SCSI, and IRQ 21 for USB but being shared by LAN.
Must be different for every different mobo and OS.
