Soldering question
I bought a gigabyte GA-7DX from a guy on this board a while back and the specs said it was either 200 or 266 fsb. I've bee running an athlon 1 GHz in it, so I never needed to go over 200 fsb. Now I'm selling it and the guy wants to put a 2400 in it.
On further inspection, it looks like the board is a stripped down version and doesn't have the jumpers to go to 133 x 2 (= 266)
can I just run a line of solder from the spots where the posts for the jumpers would be?
*** ***
I'd just connect the second and third spots on both sets with solder as it defaults to 100 w/ no jumpers. I'm really not worried about the board, since if this doesn't work I have to get a new one anyway, I just don't want to waste my time if it's not a viable option.
I know it would never be able to go back to 100 after that w/out removing the solder, but no biggie there.
Think it'll work?

how about a pencil? Don't they use them for unlocking multipliers too? Just so I can see if it'll work, if it does, then I'll order the silver stuff online.

Yes they do use them for older cpus. I should work for yours. I see no reason why it would not work.

Got an Autoparts store nearby?
Rear window defroster repair kit contains conductive paint, under $10

Cut off a piece of small copper wire, solder that to one pin place, cut the wire off and solder that to the other pin place...cut the wires off even and slip a jumper on them...all thru and removable if necessary.
Understand that there may be other features on a motherboard that is needed to support the FSB change...simply adding a jumper may not be enough...but if you use the jumper method, you have not changed anything that cannot be gone back to.
Many motherboards autodetect the CPU and setup the FSB accordingly...so..yes, it may already support both, and you will need a CPU that will run at 133 Mhz to find out (unless the manual tells you).
