USB2.0 card problems

I just bought a USB2.0 pci card and inserted in a empty slot. The problem is that the computer won't start and the monitor doesn't respond. It just hangs and nothing happens. Not sure what board it is but its about 3 years old. Thanks

Does the PC POST? Do you hear any beeps?
Make sure you didn't unseat any of the other cards installed. Make sure they're all snug in their slots.

Havn't touched anything else. I think the beeps are disabled, havn't heard any for years.

POST beeps cannot be disabled. When your PC starts, you should hear one beep, that means everything is cool and the PC is going to boot just fine.

If you hear a combination of beeps other than just one, then you have problems. If you're not hearing any, then you have problems as well.

If you take the USB card out, does it boot?

No beeps at all, and it works normally when I remove the card

Do you have another pci slot available? If so try it in a different slot.

I have tried almost all the slots except the first one (graphics card)
