Dust Cleaning

I just opened up my case after about 2 months of using this computer and theres dust everywhere: on the case fans, on the hard drive, bays, and especially on the heatsink. Anyway, I was just wondering if vacuming is safe, or if compressed air is the way to go. I just dont wanna spray the air and have all the dust fly out into my room since I am allergic to dust mites.

Thanks.

I have heard of many people using compressed air and vacuming together. Get the dust free with the air and then suck it up. Be careful with the vacum cleaner.

After removing and phyically cleaning the HS fan and putting it back on I take my box outside and use a leaf blower to get the dust out.

Works real well especially on the power supply where you can't physically get to the dust.

Any dust left after that deserves to be there IMO.

spray some air to get the dust flying around inside the case, then vacuum it up

You might be safer with a can of compressed air with one of the extender straws and a soft bristled paint brush.

Updated:
my bad, I was thinking of something else earlier and just realized I didnt post what I had intended

So, Change that earlier response to Canned compressed air and a large makeup brush

That's the same way I cleaned my case up the last couple of times. I take cotton swabs to remove/rub/loosen the dust from the fans and h/s, take it outside and blow it out. I do recommend taking a pencil or something and holding the fans still while blowing it out so you don't ruin the bearings.

make sure that the case is connected to a good earth ground too, as you don't want ESD to distroy your system, vacume cleaner is also a great static generator, so be carefull.
