using IRC with Opera?

needless to say i hate IE compared to Opera, and i did figure out how to make irc links open directly into irc instead of having opera give me some bogus error. my only question is that with IE when i would click on an irc link (in an irc search engine for example) it would open irc and automatically copy the "/msg xxxx xdcc send #x" to the clipboard for me. but when i do this in opera, it doesnt copy anything to the clipboard. i know this is extrememly minute and nitpicky..... but if anyone knows the solution to this it would be much appreciated.
