What is the best gaming headset?

Hello!

I am looking to buy a good quality and durable set of headsets(the kind with stereo heaphones and boom mic).

What are some comfortable, lightweight, quality, durable headsets that would be good for gaming? I play Counter-Strike, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 1942, and other games. I will be using TeamSpeak and CS's built-in talk feature. I want to buy two or three pairs of headsets. And my budget would be probably$60 for each headset. But, if there are any nice ones that are less than that, even better!

Any opinions and tips are appreciated!

I like my Sidewinder Gamevoice. It's a pair of headphones with a boom mike, and a base station with a switch to switch between main speakers and the headphones, as well as a bunch of buttons to tell it who you want the message to go to.

My only problem with it is that it seems like the only way to get the buttons to work is by using GameVoice, which needs MSN messenger to do its thing. It'll still work with TeamSpeak and everything, but the spiffy buttons don't do anything.

A set of sennheiser 212 pros and a cheap mic work great too; I think the sound is very nice.

So, why would I want to get gamevoice? What would be the benefit over the Logitech headset?

I have the Plantronics DSP-500 Digitally-Enhanced USB Gaming/Multimedia Stereo Headset http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...4122?vi=glance and they work great. A little tight on the ears for the first week though.

Those look pretty nice, DVNT1! Higher price, but look like they're worth it. What is the deal with the USB headsets? Why do they use that? I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card, so wouldn't I get better sound quality just using the outputs on the sound card? Right now I have some Sony MDR-V700's right now, and they are also tight on the ears for a while, but the main thing I want is to be able to hear the atmosphere around me when I have the headphones on. With these Sonys a train could pass right by me, and I would never know it. It's great when I'm editing audio/video, or mixing some dubs for my next CD, but when I want to be able to hear what's going on around me, no way, Jose...

So, are they open-air design? What about the Logitechs, are you able to hear what's going on around you?
