shop digital direct
these are scam artists. They charge you extra for items that are included as standard. i paid for a extended battery and got the standard canon one. Also the sustituted smaller (cheeper ) lesnses without my consent. When quired they refused to change them and want $250 to return them. Avoid at all costs.

Shop Digital Direct
I ordered a Nikon D80 new body on 08/05/08. I received an order confirmation call, and their representative tried to sell me a battery and charger stating that they do not come with the camera body. I've been an Army photographer since 1980, and have purchased many new Nikon camera bodies. After some checking, I found that Shop Digital Direct strips all of the "Normal" items that Nikon packages with the camera, and tries to sell them to their customers at a profit. The next thing is that low price. Besides stripping the camera of the items that Nikon packages with the camera, I'm wondering if Shop Digital Direct is selling "Grey Market" cameras. You cannot register "Grey Market" cameras with the manufacturers, and they won't service them either. These are cameras that are normally sold elsewhere in the world, and have mysteriously gotten past U.S. Customs. Needless to say, I called, and canceled that order when I figured out what Shop Digital Direct is doing. |

DON'T Shop Digital Direct
BEWARE! BEWARE! DON'T SHOP at ShopDigitalDirect.com
Last week (8/5/08) I purchased a Sony camcorder and other related items from ShopDigitalDirect.com when it was listed on DidUPrice.com as lowest price and rated as a good (five stars) seller. Unfortunately for me, I did not see these reviews until it was too late!
It's all a facade. When I received my order I found a discontinued model of camcorder substituted for what I ordered, non-Sony batteries, despite being guaranteed that the batteries were Sony brand and a number of other items that were simply missing from the package.
When I called Customer Service, I had to wait hours while being passed from one agent to another. After more than two hours, I finally got on the phone with a guy named Chris. My order total was about $1250. Chris informed me that I'd have to pay $375 to return it. Even though it was their error in shipping me the incorrect camcorder. At no time did he ever acknowledge that the package was short of what I had ordered. He also insisted that I needed to fill out a form that he would fax to me so I could obtain a return authorization number. My fax machine waited days to receive and still has not received it. Repeated calls to customer service leave you on hold with the hope that you'll go away from frustration from waiting HOURS!!
These guys make their money sticking the consumer with inferior or discontinued models, substituting products different that what you order and charging exorbitant fees to return merchandise. They are dishonest and building bad Karma that you don't want to touch.
STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!!

I called ShopDigitalDirect to purchase a new Canon HG10. They tried to tell me that the camera didn't come with a viewfinder and I had to pick a color of one. The guy then told me it's $197 extra for a black (normal) viewfinder. I tried to insist that all video cameras have viewfinders and he told me their 'wholesale' version doesn't. UGH....

I should have checked here first.
Did anyone get their merchandise? I am still waiting on mine but not quite a week so far. Anyway, all this sounds familiar. The guy I dealt with refused to change my order after I called back to have all the extras taken off. His name was Chris, or at least that's what his name was that day. The next day it was Richard. When I told him he was lying about his name, he said his name was George....then said, "no wait, I feel like going by Phil now....so call me Phil". I haven't been sent a shipping confirmation after repeated requests. These guys are just liars.
So what can be done about them? Has anyone filed a complaint? I am going follow up with on this. If enough people did the same, something would get done about it. I plan to write a letter to the Governor, Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General, and anyone else I can think of.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME TO POST
I called them before I placed my order. Yes, all Canon products (EOS 50D was of interest) Yes, Canon lenses, not after market. Yes, USA warranty. But, no sorry...won't have them for 8 weeks. Today is 11-02-08. So, I placed an order to get things going, thinking I was going to save hundreds. I used my Discover card. Adam called back wanting to confirm the order. While he was leaving a message, I called to confirm the order and delivery. If 8 wks, I'd cancel. He said they can't accept Discover, some problems with it. He confirmed camera in stock. Suggested I get an upgrade away from the Vivitar lens. What? Ok, two different prices for same lens, one is Canon the other is not. Ok. But, the more I was talking...."hey do you want to get a battery for that? WHAT?
So, I called, left a message for Adam. I'll be watching BOTH my cards for unusual activity for some time to come.
I appreciate all of your feedback. Notice...not one positive review.

The general rule is to put all these orders on a charge card, and call your card issuer for a chargeback as needed. You'll never get satisfaction from this outfit!

Hey there, I did call both cards and I will monitor my bills. Thanks for the warning, I thought of it after I posted. Also, I emailed shopdigital and summarized my contact with Adam and the clarification to remove financial info, and no orders. Of course, no reply from the phone call or the email. I won't expect one, and I won't expect any charges!

Scammers is Right!!!
I placed and order for the d80 by Nikon and received a email that I had to call them and confirm my order. (which I thought was odd, as never had that happen before)
I called and the man at the other end asked me questions about the order that they should have already known. He kept putting me on hold to check etc.
So, I told him that I just wanted them to process my order and ship it to me, that I did not want anything else. also said I am going to hang up in 5 seconds, please ship my order! I hung up after five seconds. lol
He called me back and said he was going to ask me for info about my credit card, and i told him he already had that info, you are just going to try to get me to buy extra stuff. He didn't like that and said that seeing as I was so rude as to hang up on him, that he did not want my business and to go shop someplace else and hung up.
Unbelievable attitude. I personally think he is running the place and its a total scam. If you want cheap, beware of them, they are not cheap in the long run.
Unfortunately I can't write a report about them because I don't have a order number any more, I deleted all with anything to do with them.
Beware Shop Digital Direct, they real pain. Should be banned from the internet!
This all happened to me 3 weeks ago.........
Sure hope this saves someone a lot to pain |
