Delete spam!

Why don't we delete spam, and advertising threads? Here is a recent example of a thread title that has been locked EDITED
I'm pretty sure this guy isn't too upset about his thread being locked 'cause he won't be back except to place more spam on the boards, plus he got exactly what he wanted, because the locked thread has left his ad in plain sight.
This seems to happen with most of the ads and spam. Is it not possible to delete the thread entirely?

So should we delete yours since you just advertised for the guy as well?

His post was edited and taken care of in the appropriate manner. Sometimes us Mods can't move very fast, especially in the mornings before our can of Red Bull and bowl of Sugar Smacks.

LOL, Thats the way they should be dealt with Rick. I've just noticed that in most cases the thread gets locked and a blurb about forum rules gets inserted, but the gist of the ad remains.

If links or other readily available information remains in the spammers message or header allowing him to accomplish his goal, that's an oversite and it should be reported to the mods. As ER stated though, sometimes there are other requirements that might delay the removal of such information. For instance, banning a spammer to limit their ability to post new threads is more important than removing the links if the forums are getting flooded with new spam threads. Sometimes there are oversites, and we appreciate the help we get from the members in resolving such issues.
