References Required for Buy, Sell, Trade Forum
I think it should be made mandatory that a buyer, seller, trader at least have some sort of Heatware, eBay Feedback, or Beerology references before they can even post a thread.
I'm not saying they have to be all Positives, or even have any at all. But at least have registered on any of the above. People are going to ask for them anyway. Is there a way to make it part of the user's profile?
Might help on cutting down on Trolls as well.

I agree with what EvilRick said. Maybe we can't insist that everyone have ratings but they can at least register a name with heat, beerology, etc.
Heck make it a requirement to put a link to your references in your "for sale" post too. Like prices are required.

Make a subforum for "Qualified" (heatware, ebay, etc feedback), and for "New" (no feedback)
or something like that

I think that references are very important, but are worth nothing more than the word of the people who leave them. I am currently trying to get someone to ship an item that I had purchased on AT forums. He has almost perfect heat, but has not communicated in the past nine days. I have since been PM'd by two other people who had bad deals with him within the past month, who were afraid of retaliatory heat. If people are not willing to leave a negative eval after a bad deal, what is the heatware system worth?
My point is, that there is more to a person's integrity than a number of positive evaluations. I would much rather trade with someone I know and respect as a valued member of the forum than a newb with a hundred positive evals.

The easy way around this is to include in the rules that you MUST list a heat/eBay reference to list. Just like you must include a price. No heat, close the thread.

So SJ are you saying that I shouldnt be able to sell here at Timo if I didnt list heat/ebay?
There is many ways much better than relying on something that cant be proven. It's up to the buyer to decide who to buy from just as it is for the seller to decide who to sell to....

Mike, that is true, but some people just don't use common sense, sometimes.
The best thing to do (if a person doesn't have heatware) is to make sure they send first.
