clearly visible "You've got a new private message!" notice near the **top** of the main forum page... I know that I rarely remember to scroll all the way to the bottom to check if I have new messages, so a lot of the time messages go unread for days... If not longer.
It is a suggestion, I believe. A very good one, in fact. The popup is often turned off, so an anandtech-like notification at the top of the page, would be nice.
I think my PM feature has quit---the last 3 PM's I sent were not answered---either that or im being ignored...
