Hmm. This has been mulled over in the past. There's really no reason to seperate them out. Personally, I just don't even open threads that look political or religion based. No one agrees with my views so it's sort of a waste of breath arguing.

Those type of posts already exist in community.
IMHO another section for politics and religion isnt needed.
This is after all a tech forum.

People shouldnt have to decide just based on subject if the post is pure religious/political flamebait. Generally neither of these subjects are something that most of us wish to engage in while in a casual/informal setting with people we don't really know.
People who choose not to read about these things should be able to open posts in the community without fear that it will just turn into another political flame war incited by someone who doesn't even participate (but I wont point fingers)

*puts on flame proof suit and flack helmet*
Don't read anything posted by Theo if you don't want to read things political/religious/controversial in nature.
Seriously.
But yes, there should be another section for "those threads" if they're going to be allowed to continue. Flame bait is getting old.

Ya know, this reminds me of whenever someone is at my house and they stumble over something that I may have left in the floor...without fail they will say something like, "Why don't you pick that up?" And without fail I will say, "Why don't you watch where the hell you are walking?"
Is that really so unreasonable?

Yes, it is. First this isnt YOUR house, its a community. Second, this is closer to someone throwing something in front of you while you are walking. You cant always tell what a thread is about by the subject.

Siliconjunkie, No one is making you read the threads and posts in community and to me thats what you are inferring. I usually stay out of the community posts area because there are posts that my fellow TechIMO members post that get under my skin. Therefore for the most part I stay out of the "Community" area.
Pretty much sums up what Out said.
I for one thank who ever had the idea of NOT posting the community threads in the recent threads area.

Where in that did I say or imply anyone was forcing me?
My point is that people should be able to walk thru the park without worrying about stepping in dog mess. It just isnt something you should have to worry about. And, with vauge/misleading subjects this is impossible. It isnt reasonable to tell people to NOT go in the "community" area because there are alot of not nice things going on there. I don't want to censor anyone or anything like that. I just think that it needs its own section.
