Has anyone thought it would be a good idea to have a forum dedicated to virus alerts and hoaxes?

I've noticed we have a lot of dupes from time to time. And I have a tendency to one of the perpitrators.

I don't know if there would be enough general interest or not, but a few sticky threads on known hoaxes, 'wild' viruses, complete with solid informational links would be a great service, IMO.

I recall 2 years back a particularly nasty virus that got loose, and there was a ton of great info that appeared on various BBSs. It would be nice to have a central point of contact on this subject. I certainly would use it.

I think a Virus forum would be an exellent idea, from time to time I see alot of posts in regards to virus and how to clean and where to get tools if anti-virus programs are unable to remove all traces of virus. This would be a good place for that.

But I feel to emphase it here again:

IMO an excellent idea to put a virus forum on the site. Especially with the virus boom lately.
At this moment the warnings are floating around in several forums (IMO/gen.tech./tech.news). And I noticed I missed out some already. You know what I mean Rampage

DutchMaster is right, though, it's hard to keep track when things are being posted everywhere.

I keep my AV updated regularly and have only had one virus hit me since I've begun surfing.

What gets me is that well-meaning people (friends) have sent me these hoax things (and sometimes actual viruses!) thinking they're doing me a favor. Some of this stuff has been floating around forever!

Anyway, a central clearing area would be helpful. And I personally will try to investigate this stuff a little more before posting something. Ya know what I mean?

A virus forum would be great! As a matter fo fact I have a nasty one now. I got a stuffed up nose and ears, scratchy throat and a nasty dry cough. Any ideas? Oh...umm... wait... You mean a computer virus forum. Nevermind!

Well the way I look at it, if we also include a virus forum, think of the archives we will have accumlated. With TechIMO getting off to such a good start, just imagine where we will be a year from now and with the exellent archives!!! Things are relativly easy to find, pick the catogory and do a search and you will most likely find exactly what you are looking for the first hit.
