perhaps split resellerratings and techimo

it just seems resellerratings is what brings down techimo alot. i dont know how bad the server situation is, but maybe another server, or splitting the 2 sites completely is in order. i am sure members of techimo would contribute a little bit each to help out. i dunno, i just hate to see such long loading times, and sql connection errors to TIMO because of a resellerratings flood.

Loading a TIMO page can take forever (so it seems).

In the past few months, I've noticed that pages in TIMO are taking longer and longer to load. Just had a page remain partially loaded for something approaching 2 minutes. In the past, I've seen longer delays than that (pushing 10 minutes), but I think improvement is (barely) perceptable.

Not trying to complain, I'm sure it has been both asked and answered before, but wanted to express my support of this idea to split the 2 sites, as I believe the delays became more pronounced concurrent with the recent intensification of Reseller Ratings.

IOW, what sixf00t4 said!

I've implemented caching of techimo forum threads - you should notice performance improvements.. It's actually the combination of several extremely high traffic sites using one database server that has been the problem, but these caching techniques will greatly reduce the load on the db server and techimo's webserver.

Hmmm... I thought it was just my DSL connection. I didn't realize that the slow loading was a problem for everyone else.

What is the trade off on the caching? Will we not see updates to threads for a period of time? What kind of TTL is there on the cached data? I have noticed having to manually refresh more lately to see the latest on a thread, is this the cause, and are we circumventing it by manually refreshing?

Why is it I get e-mail notices from time to time concerning a post or PM..and it comes from resellerratings.com?

Bovon,

You have received a new private message at ResellerRatings from xxxxxxxxxx. Please click here to log in and read it:
http://www.resellerratings.com/forum/private.php

Thanks,
ResellerRatings team

I am not a member of resellerratings forums, and when I go to the url, it asks to log in etc.

The PM of course was here at TechIMO..and was no problem finding and reading..but still...why?..and whats up with TechIMO/Resellerratings anyhow!
