Windows Forum?
You know, there is now a Linux sub forum to the OS forum, so why shouldn't us Windows gurus get a windows forum? theres more windows users seeking help than linux anyway. just an observation

| never saw that one coming! coughcough
Thankfully we're not much of a Mac place or we'd have to have a subforum for them too
If this is done, I humbly request NOT to have sub-sub forums for 98/Me/NT/2k/XP/...TBA

NO! The reason Linux got a sub-forum is that we all petitioned for it and Linux is 3133T0R!!!!
(I voted yes btw)
Maybe split the Apps and Operating systems into different ones on the main page? so you have:
Windows 9x
Window NT/2K/XP
Linux/BSD/UNIX
Other Software.
Looking at it now, it looks a bit too complicated.

i know. i'm trying to make a point. we never should've had a linux sub-forum for that very reason. there are more windows users than linux, therefore a windows sub-forum would be more called for than a linux sub-forum. Quote: |

actually, the reason fot the Linux sub forum is so that those who use Linux can post somewhere that it will get noticed by Linux users. If we post all of the Windows, Linux/Unix questions together, they have a tendency to get skipped and/or annoy those who do not use Linux. The reason there is not a Windows sub forum I believe is mostly because the Applications, OS forum is basically a Windows forum anyway. The need for Linux sub forum was getting greater as more and more people try Linux.

Sorry you're too late.
You probably should have started asking from the beginning consistently... | |

I don't think we should have a windows forum. Why?
Simple. How many *windows* specific threads do you see in the apps and OS forum? Not that many.
If its windows networking, they put it in networking. If its a nother problem, it goes to that forum. This poses no problem as the people that can solve those problems, being windows users themselves.
Those of us that know linux rarely venture outside of that forum as far as tech support goes as almost EVERY question pertaining to linux is found there. If its has to do with networking in linux, think it goes to the networking forum? No it doesn't. They put it in apps and OS as that is where the people who answer it are.
Now is this right? Should we create a Linux sub-forum just because people put their questions in the "incorrect" place?
That is a debate with no answer as it all depends on how you approach the question. Tailor the board to the user or force users to use it your way.
If you can prove to me that anyone actually wants a windows only board or that support and actual question content exists for one, then sure, lets fire that bad boy right up.
Until then I suggest that you take your jaded feelings elsewere. A Linux subforum has been asked for before and never once was a "Well what about a windows subforum!!!1!1!" raised as a reason not to have it.

Sure, why not -- I'm no bigot. You could even have an OS X forum for the three or four people who use Macs. (Or do we now consider it to be a subspecies of BSD?)
