Linux,Unix forum

A forum specifically for the *Nix operating systems would be nice so that all of the questions pertaining to those systems can be found easily by those who use these OS.

Personally, I would love to see that. Not trying to be snobbish or anything but that's where my interests ly (lie, lye, what ever?).

Thanks for bringing it up.

Oh, come now, surreal.... you've fallen to posting rational responses? lol.
In fact, we could make a whole board about *nix. Hey - somebody already did....
Linuxquestions.org, justlinux.org, etc.

i agree with this great idea, a own linux cat.because linux is just taking up space in the apps and OS's category. so just change that one to windows and others or something, then make a nix one.

Ok, maybe I should expand upon my idea...
There could be a subdirectory in the OS and Applications menu for Windows, *Nix and Mac, etc so that you can jump straight to that OS to offer help as opposed to searching through all of them jumbled together in one topic.

I know there are stricly Linux boards...this isn't one. That is the point. People here use more than just Windows or Linux or whatever OS you want to name. The people here offer advice on more than just one OS. Lots of people dual boot for example so to go to a OS specific board would mean jumping back and forth between them as opposed to coming here where you can get all of your answers at one great place!

Surreal,
I know this subject has come up before....because I remember posting about it then too. Here is my reasoning.........maybe it's flawed, but here it is anyway

Techimo lumps all of the OS's AND Applications into one catagorey even though it is the 3rd largest catagorey with over 50,000 posts. The only 2 that are bigger are GENERAL discussions. Whereas Linux, Windows, BeOs and others are more focused and would have a large number of posts in each catagorey/subsection even if it were split up for convience. We have discussion boards here with 96 posts (in Multiplayer Gaming) ....... it does seem rather odd that a catagorey so large and diversive wouldn't be broken up........... yet we break up Multiplayer gaming????????

#1 IMO Community
Non-tech discussion here.
169278 posts
.
#2 General Tech Discussion
Discuss technical issues that don't fit into the categories below.
53962 posts
.
#3 Applications & Operating Systems
Software applications plus OS's: Win9x, WinNT, Win2k, Linux, BeOS, Unix, and MacOS too.
50892 posts
.
Sports
Madden NFL 2002, Tony Hawk, NBA Live, FIFA 2001, others
96 posts??

Just my 2 cents........ Fix it or not... I love Techimo

[edit]
I am not so sure that everyone wants a "linux only" forum as much as it would seem to make sense to split the catagorey up for convience of everyone..... not just linux users. It would be easier to post windows questions in the windows forum etc. Perhaps there is a reason for keeping the forums lumped together. (To keep people from being "clickish"?? for lack of a better word) Just more thoughts.... I got to get to sleep
