Red search button
Would something like this assist newer people in conducting a site search here?
Have a look---it sure stands out:

would be a good idea, but they won't go for it.
i mean not many read the my thread to help us help them
people are just lazy in general and instead of trying to fix or try to find a soluation they will just post the problem even know its been post 5 billion times.
I have found so many fixes to my problems using the search options. its a savior!

I agree that people wont use it (nice idea though).
In defense of the "new and / or lazy" members, I dont see a problem with repeated questions being asked. A lot of the time different responses are given and people may see solutions they didnt see the first time around. Plus, it is an opportunity for us to meet the new members. If they simply come to Techimo, search the database, find their answer and then leave; how would they know what great people we have here?
I argued once not to allow new members to post to the Community Forum. The responses given to me were that it is an easy way for new members to join in on our discussions without feeling intimidated or unwelcomed. I have since changed my mind on that but that same idea applies to this too. We should welcome the posts. We may even learn something new the 3rd or 4th time around.

Don't forget that for a while, the search function wasn't working 100%. I don't know if thats the case still.
But I had to repeat a thread a few days ago because I couldn't find an older thread about the same issue that I had posted months ago.
So, it's not always the fault of the users. But I agree in that many are simply too lazy, which is why I think this is a great idea, it might help people to 'notice' the search function.

I agree with everybody so far. I think a highlighted button would be better, even if 100% don't use it.

| Dang right it is still the case.
That search works like crap. Trying to find threads I KNOW I made is impossible using the search. Nothing more frusturating than knowing the title and not being able to find it......
I don't even bother to try teh search anymore, so I sure as heck don't blame people for not using it.

Then you should use Google, I heard a number of users say that Google finds every thread they looked for, just enter your query and add Techimo. (or site:techimo.com)

I'd go for just about anything that improves the search option!

Even if some don't use it, it surely makes it more noticable is seems quite easy to put into action...it's just a red button .
Couldn't hurt.
