Incentives for user reviews and DC projects

I think, since there's so many members here at TechIMO there has to be something they could contribute to DC or the User Reviews, and I think, it'd be great if there was some sort of incentive for those who participate in it. I enjoy reading the user reviews back when everyone was at Sysopt, but no one really submits any reviews here... As for DC, there are so many members, and I think they should be rewarded, by something...

And how would you reward DC members?

Maybe with some extra "rank", kinda like i saw at BBT, where DC members who get to a certain level get DC stars or cows or something under their username. (Cows... now there's a thought! )

Anyway, if it's possible it might just be a little more visible incentive, I agree.

Hmm.. maybe an icon for a cow under our name for every DC project we run?
That way people would be curious as to how to get the icons as well.. and of course we can tell them.. You just gotta run a DC project
Not the dancing cow though, something more static.. a gazillion dancing cows on the screen may cause a bit of motion sickness.. as if my avatar wasn't bad enough

Actually, instead of having ONE cow for each DC project how about a cow for every machine?

I really like your DC icon suggestion vass0922. The question is how hard would it be to write a script that would do this?

Just to kieep it simpler, just have an icon that signifies that your a DC'er in general and maybe have it go away if you dont contribute every 30 days or so....

That way people will have an incentive to do more than just sign up.

Much of this idea could also apply to the reviews as well....

Errr.. I think DVNT1's threads would instantly be 100 lines long even if he just replied 'lol' lol
So that may not be a great idea lol

We don't want to spam the boards with DC, as it is just a single aspect of the site.. we want to raise awareness, not scare people away

As to the difficulty of it.. making it dynamic would be rather difficult I would assume and a bit time consuming, as they'd have to retrieve data from another site.

Thinking of the idea is the easy part.. implementing something like that is more difficult.. lemme check out BBT and maybe ask Bits how they do it...
