Multiple Comments

Is it possible to allow for a user to post more than one comment for a specific reseller? I found it kinda odd that after we post once and would like to post responses to other people's comments, we are forced to edit our original post. I understand the limit of rating a company only once per user, but is there a reason for the one post per reseller per user limit?

Well, at the "old" resellerratings.com website, you could only RATE (answer questions re: numerical evaluation) a vendor once, then do a written evaluation. Afterwards, you could "add comments" and although you couldn't do another numerical rating, you could make another post and therein add you comments -- good or bad -- for everyone to read...it was not part of the original written review one did but was like this newsgroup, a post in the "timeline" as it were.

If this "new" resellerratings, doesn't allow for us to comment on subsequent purchases from a vendor we already have patronized once, i.e., does not allow one to do "add comments" after the very first time, then that sure is a big negative/mistake for resellerratings.com.

We MUST be able to add a post EACH TIME we shop with a vendor to document EACH SALE experience whether its from 5 different vendors or 5 purchases from the same one..each experience should be documented. This shows how the vendor is doing over time.

Perhaps there IS a way to do this that you have overlooked?

I haven't had to add anything yet so I don't know if it can't be done -- haven't shopped twice at the same vendor yet in this "new" resellerratings.com website -- but I sure did that in the old one and will be trying to do it in this new site, too.

I hope we still can.

Here is a quote from the Resellerratings.com FAQ

Q: I evaluated a company in the past but my opinion has since changed. How do I update my previous evaluation?

A: If you submitted an evaluation for a company on or after 3/11/2002, you can change your answers to the survey questions as well as your comments, by simply going to that company's "Rate this seller" link. The system will display your evaluation for you to edit.

Yeah, it looks like you can't post more than one comment per reseller. You can only edit it. Oh well.

That's not good at all. A disappointing step backward it seems.

The old way was better in that at least you could add more -- but seperate/individual -- comments in the timeline continuim (or "history") of that vendor...you could never do a numerical rating after your first -- okay -- but you could add seperate posts in the que, and between the two, I'd give more weight for a detailed written evaluation (not just something like "Great company" or "I got my stuff") over a simple number rating, so that was not too bad a system.

But now, if I understand the "new" process cited above, you essentially "erase" each "original" evaluation as you write a current one (updated), or you must add (append) to the original an update -- and probably date it like journal entries -- and do that each time...one's post could eventually get VERY long AND confusing!

Sorry, but I don't see the wisdom of that.
