Question to Scott

Could we have the clickable cell's (like on the main forums page) in other forums too? It's so convenient.

What does everyone else think?

I like the idea... I find it easier for me to open links

Bleh, please no. It is already hard enough for me to have to right click and select open in background for all of the main forums, i don't want to have to do it for all threads too.

I don't like the idea for similar reasons as krohnjw.

I also like the "non-clickable" areas so I can easily make that window active again without going off to another page.

No I think you're right, and I think I was one of those who didn't like it in the begining, but it has become quite convenient (to me at least)

Huh? If I am understanding you right? The process is still the same. You still right click on the same spot you do now. You just wont be able to take advantage of the update if it happens unless you open the link the traditional way...

NOOOOOOOO

Please don't.

CM - what planet were you on when we had this huge discussion poll.

For some users, including myself, when we hold shift and left click to open several links, the main window also opens that link....and if I randomly click somewhere to "clear" a link (geez, I don't know how to say it), I usually click in the grey area, which is annoying.

Personally, I'd much rather see time and resources spent on better features for the site (articles or something that adds content) and not useless (IMO) eyecandy.

You are thinking of the right thread. Open in background is an opera thing, also now in tabbed mozilla. It is like open in new windows, but doesnt steal focus. The same thing happens with open in new window. I will paste below the convo i had with eddy on why i dont like it.

<krohnjw> on the main forum page
<krohnjw> when you hover over the cell it turns grey
<eddy> ---------------
<krohnjw> you dont have to click the link, you can just click the cell now
<eddy> -------------------
<krohnjw> but, if you try to shift+click, or ctrl+shift+click to open in new window or background
<eddy> -------------------------
<krohnjw> it opens in a new window
<krohnjw> and takes that main page to the forum too
<krohnjw> so i can't just open up 8 forums quick
<krohnjw> i gotta right click, then select open in background for each

Now this may not seem like a big deal, but I read, and open, a lot of forums concurently and it is a big pain in my a--. I have gotten used to it on the main forum page, because i only click that once, but i open threads all day that way :-/ I for one would NOT like to see it expanded.
