Kids Should it take so long to add a reseller?

I joined this site specifically to warn fellow buyers about a company ( www.upgrade-solution.com ) that flat-out lied to me about RAM and then cancelled my order when I confronted them about their lie. Tthey still havent been added. Its been around two weeks or more since I submitted them - what gives?

I agree with get quad: Listings should be updated when one adds a new vendor, too! No excuses. He asked why his input didn't appear...so why didn't it? People take the time to do a public service like he did (or the rest of us do when we evaluate) -- in his case to warn others of a rip-off vendor -- yet it didn't appear. Why not?

Whatever someone does -- evaluate an existing vendor or add a new one, or, add comments to a previous evaluation -- should appear promptly after one hits "submit."

People go THERE to research online vendors -- as they should -- not here in the Forums, and when a new vendor is added, it needs to show up right away. People take the time and make the effort to add/update reviews, and all of that should be respected for the real VALUE that it is to the Resellerratings website listing, let alone to its value to online shoppers wanting to check out vendors.

The system doesn't work if (1) people don't rate/write reviews of vendor experiences nor will it work if (2) ratings/reviews/additions are not appearing on the site in a timely fashion.

Vendors not getting updated, new vendors not getting added sounds like the "original" Resellerratings BS that went on for months some time back when "no one was home" running the site at all. And too many of the old ratings/new vendors added during that period weren't appearing or did appear (after irrate e-mails) but were "lost" in the reopening of the new Resellerratings.

That shouldn't have happened.

There's been plenty of time to get Resellerratings 100% up to it's potential but it still seems just getting started. For example, I see lots of vendors with written evaluations/reviews but no numerical rating for some reason, and, other listed but no numerical rating OR written comments/reviews. How can that be? That's not good and it seems as though something's not working right even now.

I hope the slipshod "management" that happend to kill Resellerratings before is not slowly happening again.

1.) New companies go into an approval queue to prevent duplication and to ensure that the company's name and URL are correct. The queue is in a bit of a backlog, but we're processing additions.

2.) Reviews that are submitted for any given existing company are added to the site IMMEDIATELY with no intervention on our part.

3.) Nothing was "lost" in the reopening of ResellerRatings. We chose not to import data from September 2001 to March 2002 because the site was not properly maintained during that period and fraudulent reviews more than likely went unchecked.

4.) Companies must have 20 or more reviews to receive a numerical rating - those with fewer will have an "n/a". The purpose of this is to increase statistical accuracy. Even the smallest mom and pop shop can manage to send 20 customers to the site to submit reviews.

5.) We just rolled out premium services to enable merchants to better understand their customers and competitors. The site is progressing into the ultimate resource for both buyers and sellers, and cannot even be compared to what it was prior to March 2002.

The concept is appreciated by most and does work, as we receive over 100 new users per day and over 125 new reviews per day.

Upgrade solution was not added because it already exists:

I would like to throw in a minor suggestion on this note. The search engine for finding companies could use a little refinement, as locating a company can often be a little difficult, with them using a hyphen or comma, and perhaps you don't, or v/v. Or perhaps even they use minor alterations in their spelling of their name, say one way on their invoice, another on their url, and yet another on their home page title...etc, and when an exact match isn't found, a list of choices would be nice that come close to what you have typed. Also, pehaps a little deeper search, so if one types in the URL, or company name, then their search would be checked against both.

Also, CompGeeks and Computer Geeks needs to be merged, as the two are the same company.

Yes, there are a few companies that go by other names...usually (but not always), they are (1) the "lowballer" companies showing the lowest prices at Pricewatch and (2) just trying to be "moving targets" as they scam/rip-off people under one vendor name then have other names which really are the SAME company.

And then there are the scam vendors that have almost THE SAME NAME as a better-rated vendor...wonder how many customers have made THAT ordering mistake!

It's real hard to sort out but if you watch out for the bottom feeders (lowballers) coming up first at Pricewatch and check them out at Resellerratings, you should be okay. And after a short while, you'll be able to pick out the good ones from the unknowns/rip-offs easily since the good ones tend to stay good...Multiwave Direct (MWAVE), NewEgg, Champaign, Essential Computer (there are OTHER "Essentials"), AxionTech (but "AxiomTech" is a rip-off vendor..one letter difference), Directron, SideWinder Computers, InFlow Direct, and about 20 others.
