Personally, I think they're annoying. If people kept them short and sweet, it wouldn't be too bad, but most people have to put in all their system specs and what not. Makes all the posts too long, and is redundant.

I agree with Thud completely. In theory signatures are a great idea, but in practice people make terrible use of them. All they do is provide useless clutter as people post pics, quotes, and system specs just wasting space, in the end only enlarging posts with stuff that people don't even want to read.

That is why we have avatars after all

lol, i think sigs would be nice, if only they were heavily moitered. eg, only 50 charactars and no pics or at least a very small one

yeah i've seen forums with that stuff on each posted replies. personal quotations, favorite motto, etc. IMO, i think its annoying to see them on every post. why not incorporate it in usercp or in the photo gallery with our signatures and photos. it takes the pages to load longer.

Pages are long enough as it is. There are forums that are a lot lighter per post, like slashdot.. Adding sigs would just make it tougher to read threads.

^the above message is 182characters long. I fully agree we should have sigs, maybe even enough space for our specs, but dont go as far as pics!

I personally do not like sigs. We can finish each post with our name if we want (I do, I'm old fashioned ), but I get sick of seeing the same corny quotes every time someone posts. Sigs just take up space, make it harder to read posts and through a thread, and are just plain messy, IMO.

Maybe if they were limited to name only - but I don't think those who would want sigs would like that anyway
