thread naming convention

hey everyone... just thought i'd bring this up, maybe as an ettiquette point...

i know a lot of people here are very active in the dc forums, as they're always plenty of new posts to read. however, i'm not really one of those people, and it kinda irks me a bit honestly when i click on a cryptically worded thread title in recent threads box at the top and it turns out to be a dc thread aimed at a small group of people...

i suggest that we adpot a formal policy on prefacing dc threads with their project name in brackets, the way that some people already do... just so that people can post away on the dc boards, and not confuse the rest of us... heck, we can even consider doing this for ALL threads (for example, SUPPORT, or OS, MBRD, etc) as a way of knowing exactly what a cryptidcally worded title refers to, so we can decide to read it if we want to or not.

what does everyone else think?

Not really sure what you mean regarding the DC forum posts. As far as I know, it's the only forum in which the projects (hence the nature of the post) is listed in the header. If you go look in that forum, there are only a few threads out of many that don't follow that convention. As I look at the "recent threads" up top, I only see four from the DC forum, and all are labeled appropriately.

As for other names, the ones that annoy me are ones with titles that tell you nothing, like, "HELP!!", or "I have a problem". I think everyone would benefit from being a bit more descriptive, for sure.

well, for right NOW that's true, but if you follow throughout the course of the day, there are plenty of threads that aren't prefixed by the dc folks...

but i think the idea has merit across the board... makes it easier to decide what to read and what not to read imo.
