Use RR to inform consumers about their rights & how to deal with fraudulant resellers
Since quite a few people are posting experiences about a deal gone bad on RR, why not provide general information to those people who have been defrauded by resellers. List the things your credit card company can do, how to reach your local BBB or Attorney General, etc.
I just noticed a lot of complaints about a cell phone reseller who is an authorized dealer for the big cell phone providers. If the dealer is a fraud, tell the cell phone companies about it and ask them to drop this dealer and take away his/her priviledge of selling those plans. Make copies of the letters you send to BBB, etc. and send those to your cell phone provider and ask them to cover whatever you were defrauded by. Chances are they won't but it will start getting their attention.
I've had a problem with my Toyota dealer who cheated me by $200 in unnecessary maintenance. As soon as I realized it, I made a phone call (right from the dealership) to Toyota's customer service number and confronted them about it. They claimed that they have no jurisdiction over what a dealership does or doesn't do. I told Toyota that they are putting their name on the dealership and are therefore accountable to at least some degree to what happens in the dealership. Toyota can easily remove their name from the dealership if it does not live up to Toyota's standard. It took less than 5 min after I hung up that the service manager came over to me, introduced himself, and told me that he will take off the $200 right away and that "we should not sweat the small stuff".
Anyways, I am just trying to say that there are ways to fight back if you are being treated unfairly and RR would be a great place to inform people about how to do it.
