User Rating???
When reading reviews left by customers, there is a field below some of the reviewer's names that states User Rating. It seems be a rating of 1 to 5. I can't find anything that explains what this rating is for or why some people have it and some don't.
Can you tell me what it is?
Thanks,
The Merg

Do you have an example of this?
Not sure which section your talking about?
In techimo and resellerratings, most things that I can think of that use the 1 - 5 rating system all are just overall how they are satisfied with news, and stores. Other area's there are 1 - 10 scales, so please be more specific.
A lot of the times it will give you an medium in what most users feel about that particular subject. Othertimes it helps you sort out stores that are more popular with 5 or near 5 rating.

Example of User Rating
Okay, take a look at the review of the store TechDepot in ResellerRatings. At the bottom of page 1 of the reviews, there is one by "joseywales". They have a user rating of 5.
To joseywales: Sorry, not picking on you... just needed an example.

The 1-5 'orange torso' user rating is a reflection of how useful others found that user's review. The higher, the better.
The review referred to is currently at the bottom of this page: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2128.html |

startling statistic
I was just looking at some people's ratings. I found one person who had been here since 2001, written 33 reviews, yet only 3 people had indicated the reviews were helpful! And the orange icon things were 4/5.

If they received 2 helpful responses and 1 not helpful response, that would give them a rating of 11 (5x2 for the helpful plus 1x1 for the not helpful). 11 divided by 3 is 3.67, which rounds up to 4.

- Merg | I am not questioning the rating so much, but the the fact they made 33 reviews in 8 years and such a small number of members have bothered to vote on the helpfulness of the their reviews.
Doesn't it seem odd that we all come here to read and post reviews on companies, yet are so reluctant to rate each other's reviews?

I've been a member here for over 4 years now, have over 40 reviews, but only like 5 people have rated me during that time. I think people are just reluctant to make an opinion about someone else's review in a way that it is actually counted.
