Emprex Dual DVD R/RW 89.99

Fry's is currently selling an Emprex Dual Format DVD Writer (DVD+/-R / +/-RW) for $89.99 at Fry's with no rebates required. I picked one up today and so far have had no installation or firmware updating problems. I'm about to burn a DVD and when I'm finished I'll tell you more.

Systems Play back skips

I have an Emprex DVD Dual 4X. All playback skips, listening from the DVD, listening from the computer and after I've burned a CD - that skips. I'm using the Roxio program that came with the DVD. I have a fairly old system, don't really even know what's in there. Could it be the speed of my system, memory? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Leah

I'm not sure what's wrong, my works fine so far. I think Fry's bumped it up to 99 bucks. I saw it in the ad Saturday. They have this most of the time. You may be able to find the drive on sale at outpost.com or you will have to go to your local Fry's in California or Texas that I know of.

I just got one of the Emprex recorders. Everything seems to work fine, but I am new to the DVD recording thing, and can't seem to record a DVD my player will read. My player will, and has successfully read, MP3's, rented DVD's, picture CD's.I have had success with VCD, just can't get the DVD to work, in spite of my software saying the disk was successfully recorded. I have tried creating in windows meadia and NTFS (I think it's called). Any hints? I jut want to transfere my old videos to DVD format...

Emprex DVD -- who really makes it?

Any of you who have bought one of these from Fry's: any idea who really makes the drive? NEC? Pioneer? I've been interesting in picking one up, but would prefer to know what it really is before I do so.

Thanks!

Emprex DVD Burn Setting

Haven't installed mine yet, but two of the people at the office have had no problems. Make sure you burn the DVD's at -R. More likely to play on home systems.
