Correction
Sorry, should have been more specific. VHockey86 is correct. The -R (dash R) devices appeared in 1997, with the +R appearing around 2000. I should have noted that, if you have an older home unit then use the -R, else go with the +R (although the -R should work in all devices.) Also, check the DVD's. Some specify only -R or -R/W or +R or +R/W. Most are multi.

My dvd player says it's multi-format, but won't play the -R. I have had no problems with +R. My Player was made in 2002.

Re: Emprex DVD -- who really makes it?

Thanks! | I'll second that - anybody know the answer?
Also, what (if any) software is included??

| Here is a comparison of this Emprex drive with one package by Digital Research (carried by BB). DVDRHelp has listed comments pertaining to this drive.

| Thanks, osprey! Those links help quite a bit. Still unclear as to what software's included, though. 1st link says his came with Roxio, but another posted that it had "Cyberlink" software....
Drive itself seems to have gotten good reviews, though.

link for Fry's electronics
Regarding Link to Fry's electronics: their website is called Outpost.com, however, some in-store specials may not be available online. Lots of luck!

I just purchased this dual DVD+-RW 8x burner and have a question on how to properly burn DVDs ?
After putting together a movie created from my digital video camera and burned the DVD (RW type), I was able to playback the DVD on the normal Sony DVD player and watch it on TV.
However, if I followed the same steps and burned the +R or -R types, the player refused to recognized the DVD (either reported No disc or blinking the error 13 00).
Any idea on what I have done wrong ? Or do I need to download some proper driver in order to burn the DVD-R (+R) ?
